Meet the Team
President
Ken Morton
Ken co-founded Morton Construction with his father, Jack, in 1996 and represents the third generation of builders in North Atlanta. He oversees all aspects of the company and has led the successful procurement and construction of hundreds of projects.
Ken earned a Business Management degree from Mercer University, where he also played baseball. He and his wife, Julie, have two daughters, Emily and Lexie.
Outside of work, Ken enjoys golf, hunting, and travel.
Vice President of Operations
Rob Hickman
Rob leads the day-to-day operations of all Morton projects, ensuring seamless execution from preconstruction through completion while supporting and developing the team.
He brings over 25 years of experience with Choate Construction, including 12 years as Vice President of Preconstruction Services, and later founded his own firm serving real estate developers.
Outside of work, Rob enjoys time with his family and Auburn football.
Vice President of Growth
Woody Phelps
Woody serves as Vice President of Growth, leading strategic expansion, relationship development, and new business initiatives.
He brings over 30 years of experience in senior leadership roles, with expertise in construction, project delivery, and industry trends.
Woody is a graduate of St. Lawrence University. He and his wife, Susan, have five children and are active in their church’s foster care ministry. He also enjoys golf.
Business Development
Bill Bland
Bill has over 35 years of construction experience, including leadership roles at Choate Construction as Senior Vice President, partner, and shareholder. His experience spans preconstruction, project management, and business development, and he recently retired following the company’s transition to an ESOP.
He holds degrees from Georgia Southern University and Georgia College and State University and has served in leadership roles with several Atlanta-based organizations.
Bill lives in Milton with his wife and enjoys golf, quail hunting, and time in St. Simons Island.
Director of Preconstruction
David Martini
David brings nearly 20 years of commercial construction experience, including leadership roles in estimating and preconstruction at Catamount Constructors.
His background across field operations and preconstruction allows him to connect early planning decisions to real-world execution. He is known for budget discipline, strong subcontractor relationships, and practical, buildable solutions.
Controller
Cheryl Holt
Cheryl oversees and manages all aspects of Morton’s accounting and finance operations. She has over 30 years of public and private experience and is a CPA. Her experience includes SOX Compliance and auditing.
She is involved with Disabled American Charites and enjoys spending time off with family and traveling.
Project Manager
Cody Keel
Cody leads projects from start to finish, bringing over 10 years of experience in construction. He partners with preconstruction to align scopes and manages safety, schedule, and quality to deliver consistent results.
He is a summa cum laude graduate of Kennesaw State University and a former Army National Guardsman and Eagle Scout.
Outside of work, Cody enjoys golf and time with his family.
Project Manager
Michael Hansberger
Michael brings more than 12 years of construction experience to Morton, with a background in multifamily, hospitality, office, academic, and renovation projects.
Before joining Morton, he worked with Greystar General Contractor and Gay Construction on major projects across Atlanta.
Outside of work, he enjoys time with his wife and two children, traveling, golfing, camping, hunting, and cheering on the Chicago Cubs.
Director of Marketing
Emily Toole
Emily leads marketing and brand strategy at Morton Construction, overseeing communications, digital presence, and relationship development.
She ensures a consistent client experience while supporting business development alongside the preconstruction and sales teams.
A graduate of the University of Georgia, Emily enjoys time with family and friends, wine, and travel.
